Kurukshetra → Narkanda on the Xpulse 210
331 km of pure escape. Shivalik foothills, deodar sanctuaries, and ridge-top Himalayan views — designed for riders who want the journey, not just the destination.
A carefully chosen path that prioritizes shaded forest lanes, ridge-top vistas, and the pure joy of riding over high-speed highways.
Each segment offers a distinct character — from the welcoming foothills to the majestic high ridge finale.
Kurukshetra → Morni Hills
Leave the heat of the plains behind and enter the Shivalik foothills via Panchkula. The moment you start climbing, the temperature drops and the air becomes noticeably fresher. This is the perfect “shake-down” segment to get comfortable with your Xpulse before the higher mountains.
Lush green hills, sharp engaging corners, and the first real sense of escape from the plains.
Tikkar Taal Lake Trail — gentle gravel tracks ideal for testing your setup and building confidence.
Panoramic viewpoints just before Morni village offer sweeping views back toward the plains.
Lower tire pressure by 3–4 PSI once you hit the first gravel near Tikkar Taal. The Xpulse’s 19-inch front wheel loves the extra contact patch on these gentle trails.
Morni → Barog
Rejoin the main hill highway briefly at Kumarhatti before reaching Barog — your designated “stillness spot”. This is where the real Himalayan character begins. The air is cooler, scented with pine, and the roads start to wind more dramatically.
30–45 minute break in Barog. The pine-scented silence is perfect for resetting your mind and body before the next push.
PREMIA – SOLAN – RUNWAY MOTO DREAMZ right in Barog. 4.8★ service center. Opens 10am. Perfect quick check-up point.
Last guaranteed fuel stop before the more remote interior segments. Fill up here.
Barog sits at a perfect altitude for acclimatization. Use the break to check chain tension and brake pads — the descending sections ahead reward fresh brakes.
Chail Bypass (avoiding Shimla traffic)
Instead of fighting Shimla’s notorious traffic and construction, turn toward Chail. This is widely regarded as the most refreshing and beautiful segment of the entire route. You ride through the heart of the Chail Wildlife Sanctuary on narrow, single-lane roads with almost zero traffic.
Towering deodar cedars, dappled sunlight, cool mountain air, and the occasional langur troop watching from the canopy.
The Chail–Kufri link road has soft shoulders perfect for short off-road excursions. The Xpulse feels planted and confidence-inspiring here.
Expect 6–8°C cooler than the plains. A light riding jacket becomes essential even in June.
Drop tire pressure another 2 PSI on this section. The deodar forest floor and occasional gravel patches reward the extra grip. Ride smoothly — the roads are narrow and you may meet local taxis.
Kumarsain → Narkanda & Hatu Peak
The final climb from Kumarsain to Narkanda (2,700m) is spectacular. Vast apple orchards line the road and the temperature continues to drop. At the summit of Hatu Peak you are rewarded with a true 360° Himalayan panorama — one of the finest viewpoints in the region.
Steep 6 km paved road from Narkanda town to Hatu Peak. The Xpulse’s torque makes light work of the gradient even with luggage.
Greater Himalayan range stretches before you. On clear June days you can see snow peaks in multiple directions.
Beyond the paved summit, explore the ridge logging tracks and forest fire lines. Firm, safe, and the best off-road experience of the trip.
At 2,700m the air is thinner — the Xpulse’s fuel injection handles it effortlessly. Explore the ridge tracks in 2nd/3rd gear. The bike’s ground clearance and suspension are more than capable here.
Hero’s adventure-touring flagship brings together lightweight agility, serious torque, and genuine off-road capability at a price that makes Himalayan escapes accessible to more riders.
At under 160 kg wet, the Xpulse feels nimble on narrow forest roads and tight hairpin bends. You won’t fight the bike — it becomes an extension of you.
The 210cc single delivers strong low-end pull perfect for climbing steep gradients and powering out of gravel sections without constant gear changes.
Long-travel suspension, 19-inch front wheel, and generous ground clearance make the optional gravel and ridge tracks at Tikkar Taal and Hatu Peak genuinely fun rather than stressful.
Real-world 40–45 kmpl gives you comfortable range between the last reliable fuel stops at Panchkula/Solan and your arrival in Narkanda. No range anxiety on this route.
Pro tip: The Xpulse’s switchable traction control (on higher variants) and ride modes make it even more confidence-inspiring when you decide to explore those ridge-top fire tracks at Hatu.
Start highway sections at 28–30 PSI front / 32 PSI rear. Once you hit Chail forest roads and the Hatu ridge tracks, drop front to 24–26 PSI and rear to 28 PSI. The extra footprint transforms how planted the Xpulse feels on loose surfaces.
Panchkula and Solan/Barog are your last reliable fuel stops. Fill up in Barog. The Xpulse’s ~12–13L tank gives you a comfortable 450+ km theoretical range, but real-world mixed riding + altitude = plan for ~380 km safe range.
Plains can be 38–42°C. By Morni you’re already in the low 20s. At Narkanda expect daytime highs of 18–22°C and nighttime lows of 10–12°C. Strong ridge winds at Hatu can make it feel colder. Pack a lightweight windproof layer.
Before departure: fresh oil, clean air filter, chain tension & lube, brake pads inspected. After gravel sections at Tikkar Taal and Hatu, clean the chain and re-lube. Carry a basic toolkit, puncture repair kit[Motul tyre kitfor tubed tyres], and zip ties.
June is excellent — long days, generally clear skies, and the landscape is lush green before the heavy monsoon arrives in July. Early June tends to be drier; by mid-to-late June you may encounter occasional pre-monsoon showers in the afternoons.
Road conditions: Mostly excellent tarmac with some broken patches and gravel shoulders in the forest sections. The Xpulse handles everything confidently. Landslide risk is low in June but always check local updates the night before.
Total ≈ ₹6,500 for a comfortable solo trip. Double for two-up with better hotels.
This route was designed for riders who value scenery, serenity, and the pure pleasure of the ride over speed. The Xpulse 210 is the perfect companion.
Ride safe. Respect the mountains. Leave no trace.
